Advent Devotional

Today's Scripture:
John 12:35-36 35 Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. 36 Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.

Reflect: Reflect on a story in your life that pertains to this scripture.
At school one time my friend hurt himself, and he said a really bad word. I told him I had to tell the teacher he said that really bad word because it is not okay to say those things at school.

Read: What is this scripture telling you during this season?
I think John is saying that the light is looking to God and following what Jesus said. I think the dark is when you are doing the wrong thing and making bad choices.

Respond: How is this scripture calling you to respond?
We should pray to God, listen to Jesus, and read the Bible. That way you can be a Jesus follower who shines a light in the dark. When you follow Jesus, do good works, and make good choices you are showing others that Jesus came to be the light of the world. You should also always be grateful for things.
