Advent Devotional

Today's Scripture:
John 1:6-9 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world

Reflect: Reflect on a story in your life that pertains to this scripture.

Read: What is this scripture telling you during this season?
In John 1:6-9, God sent John the Baptist, Jesus’ older cousin, to spread the word that Christ was coming. John’s witness gave notice that Christ would be the greater light available to all mankind from his coming to now and forever. For us today, this means that we do not have to live in darkness, but that we have the greater light of Christ available to us for our own salvation and to share that light with others.

Respond: How is this scripture calling you to respond?
This passage is challenging me to spend more time using my teaching and communication gifts in my church, in my mission field (24 trips to Mongolia so far), and in other places as I trust God to lead me.
