Covenant Partner Course

The new Covenant Partner Course is for all who are interested in learning more about Grace’s key theological beliefs and the vision, the mission, and the strategy. The course is led by pastors, elders, deacons, and staff and it is our unique way of talking about membership in a congregation. During the course, you will be invited to explore how joining as a “Covenant Partner” is a significant next step in your journey of faith in Jesus. Refreshments and drinks will be provided.  If you have children, Children’s Ministry offerings will be provided from 11 a.m. to noon and then childcare will be provided until 1 p.m. When you register for the course, you will be asked to register your child for childcare.

The next course date is September 13, at 11 a.m. in MT 102. If you would like to receive communication about this class, contact Jamie Horton at jhorton@gpch.org.

Happy Birthday Grace Presbyterian Church!

Grace's 150th Birthday Celebration is this Sunday, August 23!

For 150 years, Grace Presbyterian has been a fixture of faith in Houston, and we are going to celebrate. From humble beginnings downtown through today, it's incredible to see how God has moved through this church.

We are celebrating in a big way and we want to invite everyone to the party. Bring a friend (or two or three or more!) at 9:30 a.m. for worship in the Sanctuary. We'll spend time reflecting on God's faithfulness through 150 years and praying for His guidance and provision for the next 150 years and beyond.

As worship concludes, you won't want to miss the annual Ministry Fair in the lobby and cafe, highlighting everything Grace is up to this fall--there is a place for everyone to get more involved in the rhythm of Grace!

Then at 11:15 a.m., gather with your friends and Grace family around the table for a good old fashioned Potluck Lunch, in Fellowship Hall, provided with love from Grace covenant partners.

When you are done eating, the party keeps going! There will be snow cones, games, and a dunk tank in the Courtyard. Then at 11:45 a.m., head to the Grace School cafeteria to serve our neighbors by putting together birthday cake kits so everyone can share in the celebration.

Finally, throughout the morning, Grace is offering a variety of immunizations offered to the congregation. Randall’s Pharmacy will be here from 9 a.m. until 12:15 p.m., in MT104, giving vaccines for flu, covid, pneumonia, shingles, and TDAP (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis). There is no need to pre-register--just drop by! Please also remember to bring your insurance card.

Food has always been a meaningful way we connect, celebrate, and care for one another. To honor our rich history and the many memories made around the table, we are creating a commemorative church cookbook filled with treasured recipes from our congregation and community. Sign up HERE to submit your recipe!

Cultivating a Flourishing Church

Help Shape Grace's Future

Our staff leadership team has been prayerfully planning for Grace's next season of ministry as we seek God's direction for the coming years. This fall, our team will participate in ECO's Cultivating a Flourishing Church cohort, joining other congregations in discerning how to lead faithfully and strengthen ministry for the future. As we prepare for this opportunity, we want to hear from you. Your insights, experiences, and prayers are an important part of this process.

We invite all covenant partners and ministry leaders to participate in our next collaborative workshops:

Wednesday, August 26, 6–8 p.m.: Dinner at 5:30 p.m. Together, we'll reflect on where God has been at work, identify opportunities for growth, and prayerfully discern the future of Grace. Thank you for your partnership and prayers as we seek God's leading together.

Workshop:
We want these times together to be fruitful, and we also want to honor your time. HERE is additional information about the workshop, along with some pre-work to help prepare for our time together. Julia's original letter, which provides more detail, is available to read HERE.
